*Lurvey recommends a high quality, slow-release nitrogen source; consider a lower input fertilization program by reducing Nitrogen rates to less than 3 lb./year.

Residential 3-step Program

Garden Center Step #1 Greenview Spring Fertilizer Weed & Feed Crabgrass Preventer	24-0-6	18 lb bag	This product saves you time and money with 3 products in one bag. Fertilizes for 8-12 weeks, kills existing weeds and prevents weeds from germinating. Should be applied when dandelions first appear in spring.  Covers 5,000 sq. ft.
Garden Center Step #2 Greenview Late Summer/Fall Fertilizer	30-0-12	25 lb bag	This application helps lawns recover from summer stress and provides another 8-12 weeks of feeding. Ideally apply in September. Covers 5,000 sq. ft.
Garden Center Step #3 Greenview Late Fall Fertilizer (Winterizer)	31-0-0	16.25 lb bag	Promotes root growth for winter and provides a  quicker spring green up. Apply late November and you won't need another application til next May. Covers 5,000 sq. ft.

Professional 4-step Program

Professional Step #1	22-0-3 50%NSN	50 lb bag	Early Spring before soil temperatures reach 52 degrees.  Include a pre-emergent such as Barricade or Dimension to prevent crabgrass/ other broadleaf weeds from germinating.  Dimension also provides some post-emergent control as well as pre-emergent control. Covers 12,000 sq. ft.
	18-0-4 25%NSN .103% Dimension (dithiopyr)	50 lb bag	Provides long-lasting coverage - important because not all crabgrass seeds germinate at once. Will kill later-germinating crabgrass as well.  Dimension also has post-emergent control which extends its' application period 3-4 weeks. Covers 12,000 sq. ft.
	15-0-0 80%NSN .28% Barricade (prodiamine)	50 lb bag	Provides long-lasting coverage. Provides season-long control of more than 30 grassy/broadleaf weeds and allows for applications as early as January and can last entire season.Covers 12,000 sq. ft.
Professional Step #2 and Step #3	22-0-3 50%NSN	50 lb bag	#2 Mid-May to mid-June/ #3 Early September.  Nitrogen added now will stimulate shoot growth. Consider the advantages of slow-release Nitrogen sources for extended feeding times and green-up and less chances of burning. Trimec and Surge will both provide excellent post-emergent weed control. Covers 12,000 sq. ft.
